Cebu Pacific will expand its presence in Japan with a new route to Sapporo.

The Manila, Philippines-based budget carrier announced the new route between Manila and New Chitose Airport – the main airport serving the Sapporo metro area in northern Japan – will start from January 16, 2025 with three weekly flights (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday).

Sapporo – the capital city of Japan's northern island of Hokkaido – is known as Japan's winter capital with popular ski resorts in the area and the annual Sapporo Snow Festival.

“We are thrilled to be the only carrier to offer non-stop flights between Manila and Sapporo. The launch of this route is a testament to Cebu Pacific’s mission of expanding its international network and making air travel accessible to a wider range of passengers. We are excited to offer more Filipinos the opportunity to experience the winter charm of Sapporo,” said Xander Lao, President and Chief Commercial Officer, Cebu Pacific.

Cebu Pacific will be the only airline offering flights between Manila and Sapporo. The route was previously served by Philippine Airlines from December 2018 before it was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new non-stop flights by Cebu Pacific will cut the travel time of around 10 hours to a non-stop flight of around 5 hours. Travelers from the Philippines currently have to make a connection onto a domestic flight from cities as Tokyo to Sapporo.

Sapporo will be Cebu Pacific's fifth destination in Japan, where it currently operates flights to Tokyo-Narita, Osaka-Kansai, Fukuoka, and Nagoya.
